June 9 – A four-year-old girl is recovering in hospital in Welkom, after narrowly escaping being boiled alive. A drunk relative apparently dumped the child into a bucket of water, boiling over a fire. The little girl’s aunt has been taken into custody and faces charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
